The Documentary Fonds of the University of Mareantes and the Real Colegio Seminario de San Telmo in the Historical Archive of the University of Seville

Abstract

Among the documentary fonds that are kept in the Historical Archive of the University of Seville, those of the University of Mareantes (1569-1793) and the Real Colegio Seminario de San Telmo de Sevilla (1681-1847) stand out due to their importance for history, not only of the city of Seville, but of the Carrera de Indias and the Spanish Navy. In this article a brief historical description of both institutions is made, and the main documentary series of their collections are detailed. Finally, the current status of the collection digitization project is exposed, and a brief inventory of the documentation is included.
