Manage and disseminate a library deposited in 1655 boxes

Abstract

The comprehensive restoration project of the Menéndez Pelayo Library started in 2018, which required the building to be completely emptied, and whose transfer was explained in the previous days. Since 2019, the BMP collections and its staff have been “temporarily” located in spaces of the Government of Cantabria from where work continues. This exceptional situation that extends over time cannot stop the management and dissemination of collections, so important in heritage libraries. The story of how to work in these conditions is the object of this communication.
