The University Library of Granada (BUG) started in 2002 the Ilíberis Project, successive digitization projects were carried out, having achieved our main objective, the dissemination and preservation of these funds with the launching of the Institutional Repository Digibug1 in 2009.

But in this platform, the digital objects resulting from these digitization processes were not preserved. So in 2015 we had about 30 TB of this material stored on 27 external USB disks.

The conviction of the need to preserve the images according to technical criteria and to conform to international standards has been one of the main elements to elaborate the Digital Preservation Plan of the University Library of Granada and to implement a system of preservation, composed of software and specialized hardware.

This preservation system has allowed us to automate procedures such as: verification and validation of the material to be preserved, ingestion and replication, consultation and management, recovery, audits, etc.
