Abstract

On June 30, 2021, the European Commission has published a Proposal for a Directive on consumer credit. On June 7, 2022, the Council reached a position (“general approach”) on the proposal for a Directive. It is a compromise text that incorporates the changes to be introduced in the Commission's initial Proposal. In the present work, this last text is succinctly examined, in particular by comparing it with the current regulation on consumer credit contained in Directive 2008/48/CE.
