Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) proposes a revolution in the work of libraries and documentation centers, facilitating the autonomous creation of content and improving productivity, efficiency, and user experience. Tools such as ChatGPT stand out in this field, although they present ethical and privacy challenges. It is crucial to encourage responsible use of IAG, as well as to improve users' digital literacy through clear and specific prompts for optimal results. In addition, the implementation of chatbots and other AI-based resources for query assistance and book recommendations is becoming increasingly common. However, it is essential to educate both library staff and patrons about the capabilities and proper handling of these technologies. The adoption of AI in libraries suggests the need for innovation labs and best practice manuals to address ethical and social challenges, ensuring a positive evolution in the sector.
