RDA policy statements for early printed resources at the National Library of Spain

Abstract

The National Library of Spain has been actively working on the adaptation of RDA to the description of rare books since 2015, until it was finally able to take the final step in 2020: the drafting of the RDA policy statements for the BNE's early printed resources. This work has made it possible to identify the main challenges of this application, as well as to take advantage of the opportunities it offers to the rare book cataloguer. Among the most innovative aspects are instructions for transcription, the use of publication, distribution and manufacture statements, as well as the development of relations at the manifestation level, which will allow for the first time to relate issues or editions copied line for line
