Abstract

Learning to recognize the alterations and the state of conservation of a book is of great importance for the institutions that participate in these Conferences, in order to answer different questions, such as deciding if it is in suitable conditions to be loaned for an exhibition or if it can be consulted by a researcher. In addition, if this information is correctly understood, it can be reliably transferred to the bibliographic record and enrich the information it contains. The objective is to create a visual catalog of common alterations, along with some brief descriptive explanations to recognize them.
