Abstract

The libraries of religious orders have been since their origin the repositories of the bibliographic tradition of society. Since the 19th century, due to confiscations and wars, this type of fund has been losing importance due to the loss and expropriation of books. In the 21st century, religious orders are undergoing a process of gradual secularization, a fact that puts this heritage in danger of being dispersed. To avoid the loss of this heritage, the Franciscan Province of the Immaculate Conception has created a network of Franciscan libraries for the cataloging of funds and their value.
