Abstract

The primary goal of this presentation is to highlight the commitment of the Learning and Research Resource Center (CRAI) to the University of Barcelona and to the society in promoting the digitization of the valuable documentary heritage held in its libraries. In this context, a concise overview of the digitization process is provided, emphasizing its key elements and underscoring how its implementation represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration between public institutions and improve research activity planning.

Additionally, the "Transcriu-me!" project is introduced as a prominent example of citizen science in which CRAI is actively involved. This initiative, led by the Consortium of University Services of Catalonia (CSUC), allows for the establishment of a new channel of communication between the university library and the public, redefining the role of information professionals and highlighting the benefits of digitization. Furthermore, the project exemplifies how public participation can enrich research and demonstrate our institution's commitment to society and the promotion of open access to knowledge.
