“Es de la Librería de San Miguel de los Reyes” History of a monastic collection in the Library of the University of Valencia

Abstract

This work presents the research about the books from San Miguel de los Reyes monastery in the Historical Library of the University of Valencia. For that pourpuse, has been studied the archival documentation and the bibliographical funds of the university library, shedding light on the number of books that were brought in, those that have disappeared and the current whereabouts of some of them. Have also been studied the different elements that allow the identification of the books from the library of the Duke of Calabria and the monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes, including the bookplates, bindings, censorship notes and other marks of provenance.
