Analysis of the opinion of the European Economic and Social Committee “The contribution of the metaverse of robotics to the medical sector”

With the publication of the European Economic and Social Committee's own-initiative opinion on “The contribution of the meta-verse of robotics to the medical sector” on 20 April 2025, the door has been opened to sector-specific regulation of civil liability for damage caused by the use of artificial intelligence systems in the healthcare sector. Throughout this text, a series of recommendations of a very diverse nature are offered, such as the development of a global regulatory framework for robotics, greater reinforcement of the protection of sensitive data, the promotion of ethical standards and the development of informed consent protocols, the incentive of cybersecurity or the importance of adequate infrastructures in order to ensure equal access, which will be analysed in this article.
