What does Artificial Intelligence think of its application in information units?
Abstract
Objective of the study: This Letter to the Editor presents the perspective of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools themselves on the applications of AI in Information Units (UI). Methodology: Use of common language models to explore the usefulness of AI in libraries, documentation centers, and archives. Main findings: AI is shown to enable the transformation of traditional information management practices, enhancing systems and offering new opportunities, such as process automation, improved access to information, and personalized user services. Discussion: The analysis of responses provided by various AI systems highlights commonalities in key aspects of AI application in IUs and underscores challenges related to privacy, ethical, and practical implementation. Conclusions: The study emphasizes the need for information professionals to update their skills in this area is emphasized to adapt to the changes and demands brought about by AI.
