The Civil War (1936-1939) and the forging of an archive
The case of the Provincial Historical Archive of Albacete

The present article aims to reveal the origin and reason for the numerous municipal archives found in the Historical Archive, an exceptional circumstance. Thanks to the internal documentation of the archive itself, we have learned how the Civil War influenced the consciousness of authorities and institutions, and how everyone collaborated to save the archives from destruction, while also forcing the creation of the Historical Provincial Archive of Albacete.
