The artistic bindings of the XV Countess-Duchess of Benavente in the General Library of the University of Zaragoza

Abstract

22 artistical bookbinding in Neoclassical style is described and analysed to build upon Library of Osuna knowledge. They belonged to María Josefa Alonso Pimentel, 15^th Countess-Duchess of Benavente. These bookbinding cover 22 copies that arrived at Zaragoza University Historical Library because the Spanish government bought the Library of Osuna after the 12^th Duke of Osuna’s death, ruined and without heirs. The books of this library were spread across Spanish public libraries.
