General Archive of the National Distance Education University (UNED). Historical Documentary Collection of the MANES Research Center

Abstract

MANES is an interuniversity research center dedicated to the historical study of textbooks in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America, especially during the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition to the collection of textbooks, MANES had a documentary archive with a large number of illustrations, notebooks, school primers, report cards, student records, handicrafts, essays, letters, and more. On April 28, 2022, coinciding with the celebration of the Patron Saint of the Faculty of Education, the Manes Research Center donated its documentary archive to the General Archive of UNED (National Distance Education University). From that moment on, UNED took charge of its custody, preservation, cataloging, and dissemination. This unique and singular archive is of great assistance for historical-educational research, allowing us to understand the didactic resources tion of teachers' lives and the recovery of educational memory.
