The Gabriel Ferraté i Pascual Documentary Fond in the Archives of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya Disruption as a Conceptual Framework for the Management of a Historical Collection in a Digital Organization

Abstract

On January 27, 2023, the donation agreement of the Gabriel Ferraté i Pascual documentary fond was signed to the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, the university of which he was the founder himself. The archive of which was the first rector of the UOC, collects the documentation produced of his professional activity and personal life, essentially of his academic stage and as holder of positions of high responsibility in universities, private entities and public administration. Without a doubt, the fund offers a high cultural and historical interest. But what does a physical documentary collection like this do in the archive of a digital university like the UOC? Responding to this disruptive approach is the main objective of this experience and should lead us to reflect on the hybridization of contexts, a priori incompatible, but favorable to an interesting proposal in a world in continuous digital transformation.
